Salamander area highlighed in red
A Green Salamander I saw here back in 2021 (they're hard to get good pictures of ok)
What to bring:
Sturdy shoes
Long pants and long-sleeved shirt recommended
Bright headlamp or flashlight to look in crevices
Rain gear (just in case)
Plenty of snacks and water!
Bug spray
What we'll be doing:
Looking for salamanders of course! Green Salamanders defend breeding territories in rock crevices during the spring and summer, so we'll be using flashlights to peek into cracks in the boulders along the trailside to try and get a look at them. We may see other species as well (Long-tailed, Northern Slimy, ???) if we're lucky!
This Long-tailed Salamander was photographed elsewhere, but I promise I have seen them at Cooper's Rock before!
